Ingredients:

  • 1 can sardines in tomato sauce
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small tomato, diced
  • 1 cup cooked garlic rice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce (patis)
  • 1/2 teaspoon calamansi or lemon juice
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat a small amount of oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant.
  3. Add tomato and cook until softened.
  4. Add sardines with sauce, breaking them up slightly.
  5. Stir in fish sauce and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  6. In another pan, fry an egg to your preference.
  7. Serve sardines over garlic rice, topped with the fried egg.
  8. Garnish with calamansi juice and cilantro.
