My first mechanical keyboard is the Keychron Q3 QMK Custom Mechanical Keyboard, which has a Tenkeyless (TKL) layout, which means I need to find a num-/macropad.
Although I don’t use the numpad on a daily basis, I’ve spent enough time in data entry that my muscle memory needs a numpad. That said, I’m happy to spend more time with a macropad learning how to solder and build keyboards that way—it’s on brand for me to choose a micro option, instead of going all out on a full keyboard.
