Recess is a Toronto-based collective focused on exploring creative curiosity. What started out as a bunch of creative friends looking to hold space for each other has become artist-led workshops and meetups to help people practice their creative confidence. Since my departure from my full time job in March, I’ve been all in on cultivating Recess as a brand and community leader because I care deeply about what it stands for — I think when we’re given the support and accountability to have fun and create in a safe space, we can continue to be curious and, as a result, build confidence. I’ve been doing less design work and more leading operations at Recess and it’s been a lot of fun. But as friends trying to take Recess more seriously, what does that even mean?
