The world is shifting towards using AI and there’s a part of me that resents it but also my curiosity has gotten the best of me. My reluctance is mostly because of how it arms people with tools that could steal IP and artwork from artists and capitalizes on their art styles, and how it also gives shitty school boys power to destroy girls’ lives by creating pornographic imagery.
On the brighter side, I’ve found Claude to be a helpful thought partner when it comes to creating brand strategy and other design help. I don’t ask it to help me make visuals, but I guess since I know what it’s like to collaborate with great designers and think more critically about opinions, I know how to craft my prompts more thoughtfully and be more selective/riff off of what Claude gives me.
Right now, I’m testing Claude and Cursor to help me build a Google Chrome Extension that clips specific CSS and tech stack data of a website: a bookmark, but with more notes that I find relevant when I look for inspiration. I realize this is where I fall short: I don’t know if Claude is giving me the right answers — I trust that it does because I don’t know what right looks like. I don’t have the language to troubleshoot, so I can’t ask the prompts that bring me closer to the best answer.
