Important

Most of my notes are from following Ryan King Art’s Beginner tutorial series, where we build out a house in an environment.

Setup

  • It’s better to have a mouse because left click, right click, mouse wheel, and mouse wheel click have different functions

  • Numpad is also recommended so you can have easy access to move around the scene (otherwise, you need to program your number keys at the top, which may take away other shortcuts)

Shortcuts

  • Inset: i
  • 3D Cursor
    • Move it back to the center of the canvas: shift c
  • Rounded corners on a plane: ctrl shift b

TIL

  • More segments == harder to render and edit; it’s easier to play with less segments than trying to maneuver a lot of segments
  • You can select random points (instead of hand selecting) by going Select > Select Random
  • Working through the interface and learning how to use hot keys, mostly.

Open questions

  • What can you do with the different render engines (eevee, cycles, etc)?
